As the world continues getting crazier and crazier, a lot of people find themselves asking, “Does God not exist?”

This post is going to review both sides of the argument, provide some supporting evidence of each, and ultimately look to some proof to be able to say for certain whether or not God exists.

The Atheist Argument

Atheists (i.e. people that do NOT believe in the existence of a God) argue that God does not exist for various reasons. Their main argument is often that IF there were such a thing as an all-powerful God, how could God allow all the shitty stuff to happen?

People dying of thirst, war, disease, terrorism, etc.

Atheists will also argue that there is no solid scientific evidence or proof of any type of all-powerful being. In the name of the scientific method, if something cannot be observed than it doesn’t exist.

Does God not exist? For Atheists, no, he/she/it doesn’t.

The Theist Argument

Theists (i.e. people that DO believe in the existence of a God) argue exactly the opposite.

They claim that God must exist, and use God to explain the things that we don’t necessarily understand like…

  • How children are born
  • How nature is so complex yet perfect
  • How our bodies are so perfect, etc.

Those who believe in God attribute our very existence to the work of an all-knowing super being.  Maybe the reason this argument has any merit is because science does not have any concrete answer for where the universe came from.

Either argument is feasible.

There is limited solid evidence that proves or disproves the existence of a God or Gods. So the only way we’ll know is by continuing to explore.

What do you think? Does God not exist, or does he?
